It's very difficult to show the full impakt of the HD video online, its actually only been fully appreciated on site but please use your imagination. Comissioned work for a school in Utrecht Holland. It's actually a school square, in front of the school.It's like virtual fairytale a collage of images mostly comming from computergames.Computergame characters as fairytale creatures, gamescapes as fantasyworlds.The pieceis realised in 16 different colors of concrete street tiles, and is 68 by 19 meters wide! The "luchtfoto" (arial picture) of the piece is NOT photoshopped!

Comissioned work for the city "Hoogvliet" Holland. A crossover between a billboard and a oldschool monument, made mainly out of glassmozaik. Propaganda and a tribute the same time, both in design as well as content.Different typical elements of the town feature in the design, with most eye cathing the persona of "Ome Jan", a Boxing trainer who not alone trained the olympic medal winner Regilio Tuur (from Hoogvliet!) but maybe even more important,he is thedriving force of "opboxen" a project to educate end help "difficult youth" from the town for a better future, in the boxing school. 100 square meters of pixelated/stained glass window. Comissoned by de Rijksbouwmeester for a courthall in Middelburg Holland. The piece is inspired by a traditional stained glass window showing Lady Justice. This contemporary version is build up by 3 different resolutions of pixels, which makes the image sharpen locally, a nice metaphore for the search for truth and justice. The image is a collage coposed of iconic images and patterns such as lady justice herself, the all seeing eye, the green trafficlight man, policecar striping, crimescene tape and an energy level bar . At the "Battlefield" show @ P//AKT in Amsterdam, premiered the updated War Memorial Monument I am working on. On the same scale as the earlier produced "A Royal Family Portrait" (see below) a work was made featuringanother aspekt of the war, the"succesors", again based on news footage from the web/and televison, and game graphics, in design refering to optimistic propaganda styles such as used in the "wachtower" magazine by the jehova witneses. The pieces was made with support from FBKVB (a dutch art fund) and produced by Sander Belou from S.W.A.T. media.

Comissioned public artwork for the "problematic" neighbourhood Tilburg Noord, in Tilburg a city in the south of Holland. In order to question the "problematic" stigma and to emphasize the more positive aspects, a local garbage man was tattooed with a L.A. gangstyle tattoo. Instead of some really problematic neighborhood name in e.g. South Central L.A. he has "Tilburg Noord united" written over his belly.It does not only places the troubles in a different daylight if u compare it to an L.A. ghetto but it is also a deed of pride, proud to be from Tilburg Noord! The piece, a 7 by 3 meter wide glass mozaik panel was made by the people living in that neighbourhood.

In the great tradition that Absolut wodka has with artist collaborations, I was asked wit 2 other dutch artists to create an public artwork for the introcuction of Absolut Raspberri. The piece was realised in collaboration with Sander Belou from SWAT media.

"Je Maintiendrai" is a large inflatable object featuring a drawing of the traditional heraldic Dutch Lion and the national slogan "jemaintiendrai". The piece was comissioned by a large nationwide event "the year of the Dutch farm" and stands in front of a traditional Dutch farm and encourages the Dutch farmers in their struggel to survive (je maintiendrai means: I will maintain)

Also made for the year of the farm: a huge piece of art consiting of 2000 empty beercrates. A wall 12 by 12 meters wide, 50 by 40 crates in 6 different colors make a thumbnail style iconic portrait of the famous Dutch country rocker "Benny Joling" in the area where the piece was erected a true hero.The performances of his band "Normaal" are famous for massive beer consumption.

For the Dutch / Russian art project “Debates and Credits” I travelled
in May 2002 ,with Klaartje Pander, to St Petrsburg to document the travel stay and ultimately the cage fight by the Dutch Fighter Allistair “The Demolition Man” Overeem. This documentation resulted in a series of 15 large posters reverring in style to theconstructiviststic / social realistic public artwork of the soviet era.

These 5 pictures Arno Coenen made for "Urban Tetris" a moving exhibition in Amsterdam. They show "solutions" for typical problems of living in the city in the near future.The pictures were exhibited in large tetris like objects which were distributed throughout the city.
